In the console game development, you typically do not get much chance to repeat in a game where you have submitted the final code down to your publishing house and waited a few months it appears in stores. Of course, you can work on a patch and maybe some DLC, but basically the game is over. One of the many exciting things to do games on the iPhone, mainly because of the App Store is that it is much easier to make changes to the software and get the new version of the player's hand after first publication. Version 1.0 is the first step of a journey by listening to players and react to their experiences.
We follow this philosophy GodFinger. Releasing the game in Canada, we are able to obtain information on what this game so the players works well and what does not, and will help us decide what features add to the game as soon as possible. It also a good possibility that we believe that the bug of scale that we have already said (not too many, fortunately), and to measure whether our server hardware is up-to-chassis to release worldwide (almost). We had a lot of emails forum posts, tweets and messages GodFinger players together and the game itself, helps us understand what features should be next. It's incredibly exciting to see the hourly statistics on how certain parts of the game is played, when it is too difficult to be objective feature when you have spent thousands of hours of development and play.
A few of the things we’ve seen so far are:
* You really enjoy the beginning of the game, and lap up the objectives and goals
* Gifting and Mystics are so popular that our systems need some changes to deal with the quantity of messages being generated
* You want more content & more things to do at later levels
* The art and personality of the game is very popular
* More social features, particularly visiting other player’s worlds, are frantically requested
Most of these are the things that we expected, so it is nice to have confirmation of the same players. But in other cases, we had problems with his eyes open, otherwise we have ever seen - for example, we will never fully understand that some players can get hundreds of messages a day, so we try really hard, how to ensure that messages are easier to manage. We have already released an update to 1.01 to fix some bugs frustrating (Event Notification changes, in particular), and 1.02 - the second bug fix update - currently being tested.
We are also very difficult to work on the update 1.1 will add a number of incredibly cool features and see the systems examined - we will be able to tell you more about closer to the time. We also have a lot more balanced and objective assessment of future changes, which will contribute to a better pace in the game and extend the gameplay. It's incredibly exciting to have close communication with the players and we're really happy to talk with you about the game - Take a look at our contact page to contact or leave a comment below.
